EVERYDAY PEOPLE: THROUGH FREEDOM’S LENS

The Cook Foundation and the Fairfield Foundation are proud to present Everyday People: Through Freedom’s Lens, An Exhibition of Rare Photographs by Freedom B. Goode.

This Special Exhibition opens to the public on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. The curatorial process was led by Deborah Billups, in collaboration with the Fairfield Foundation, the Cook Foundation, and Members of Gloucester's Descendant Community.

Freedom B. Goode captured the experiences of a community navigating immense social changes, from segregated schools and businesses to the slow process of integration. His work provides a visual and historical narrative of African American excellence, joy, and life in rural Virginia during profound national transformation.

Join us at the Fine Arts Museum of Gloucester, Tuesday through Friday 10AM - 5PM. We are located in Main Street Center at 6894 Main Street, Gloucester, VA - between the Post Office and Dollar General.
